UPDATE (May 14, 2021) - because of changes to county regulations, tickets will NO LONGER BE REQUIRED for guests wishing to attend graduation.

Class of 2021,

I apologize for the long email but if nothing changes, this will be the last graduation update I send out to the community. Please read through it in its entirety and feel free to respond if you have any questions or do not understand anything.
Many of you have reached out to inquire about the updated regulations from JCPH and/or I was able to talk with you at early senior checkout on Friday.
The rumors TRUE and the district is no longer limiting the number of guests at our graduation ceremony! In case you did not receive this update, I have included the relevant section of the update about graduation at the bottom of this email. We will also no longer be screening guests as they enter the stadium so the covid waivers are NOT NEEDED. Masks are required while entering the stadium and walking around but when you are seating the mask becomes optional. This is true for graduates and guests.
General Updates/Reminders -
  • If you already went through senior checkout on Friday, you can show up at the school at 12:45 on Wednesday, May 19th for graduation rehearsal. We will gather at the flag pool before heading into the building for graduation rehearsal. Masks are still need to be worn in the building and I will give everybody a Class of 2021 graduation mask.
  • If you did not come to senior checkout on Friday, come at 12 to checkout this Wednesday, May 19th to get your cap and gown. The longest part of checkout is the financial office. You should make this quicker by calling Ms. Ipson and clearing your fines ahead of time. 303-982-0117.
  • Graduation rehearsal is 1-2 on Wednesday, May 19th. ALL GRADUATES MUST ATTEND IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON WALKING.
  • Senior Achievement Awards are from 2-3 right after rehearsal. In the past, this has been open to families but due to covid we are keeping the numbers down and will do this with the senior class only. No guests allowed. (Sorry!)
  • Since we already printed the graduation tickets, I will put four in each senior folder with your diploma and transcripts for you to keep and do whatever you want with but YOU DO NOT NEED TICKETS TO ENTER THE CEREMONY.
  • Graduation is Thursday, May 20th
    • Graduates arrive at the NAAC between 12:30 and 1:30. You need your own ride to the stadium (NAAC Directions here)
      • Arrive at the proper gate (see maps of stadium below)
      • Graduates will be escorted straight to their seats by junior escorts after they enter through the Graduate Gates and wait until the ceremony begins. Graduates will not process in. Instead, we will play Pomp and Circumstance while the graduates stand and are recognized by the guests.
      • The ceremony will start promptly at 2:00 pm. Rain or snow, we will go! Bring an umbrella if needed, the only weather event that will postpone the ceremony is lightning. If the ceremony must be postponed, it will happen the following Thursday at the same time and place.
    • Maps of Stadium
      • These maps include entrances you should use, staging designs so you can plan ahead on where to have the best seat for your graduate, and entrance/exit paths of all graduates.
      • The jumbotron will be used to display the ceremony for attending guests and the event will be livestreamed on YouTube. You can access the link from the AHS Homepage.
    • Graduate Seating and Gate Entrances
      • The Maps of Stadium above clearly indicate where each gate is.
      • Graduates with the last name A-L must use the East Stands Entrance, these graduates will be seated on the east side of the field.
      • Graduates with the last name M-Z must use the West Stands Entrance, these graduates will be seated on the west side of the field.
      • Graduates whose families require translation services must use the West Stands entrance no matter the last name. Interpreters will be near the concessions stand with Ms. VanNatta and Ms. Kegeris.
      • Graduates will receive their final seating assignment with row numbers at graduation rehearsal. The seating charts will be based on alphabetical order starting closest to the stage out moving back.
    • Conclusion of Ceremony
      • Graduates will be walked directly out of the stadium at the conclusion of the ceremony through the east entrance while guests remain in the stadium. Once all graduates and staff have left, Mr. Abling will dismiss all guests to meet their graduates at their cars.
        • Per JCPH orders, everybody must go home immediately after the ceremony concludes.
District Update:

For commencement and continuation ceremonies

The following applies to Jeffco-based events at Jeffco Stadium, NAAC, and other end-of-year outdoor events:

  • There will be no limit to the number of guests.
  • There will be no health screening at commencement ceremonies or continuation events.
  • There will be no handshaking during commencement or continuation proceedings.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at all venues.
  • Spectators will not be allowed on the field at either stadium.
  • Students (including graduating seniors or continuation participants) or guests in isolation or quarantine will not be able to attend.
  • If a school building is closed due to an outbreak, underclassmen will not be able to attend commencement ceremonies.
  • If a school building is closed due to an outbreak, graduates will be able to attend graduation on the 8th day of quarantine with a negative test result. At this time no schools are currently closed due to quarantine.
Level Clear is great news, but we are not out of the woods yet. COVID is still in our communities. For this reason, we encourage families attending Jeffco commencement or continuation ceremonies to:
  • Continue to social distance when possible
  • Wear masks upon entering and exiting the venues

Class of 2021,

We have two weeks left!!! This is a very important email, make sure to watch both videos AND fill out the ticket survey. (NOTE- The videos will also be viewed in English classes.) If you do not fill out the ticketing survey form by May 13th by 3:00 pm you will not receive tickets for the ceremony and no guests can come to watch you graduate in person.

Lead up to AHS Graduation Video - This video walks you through the important dates and processes that will bring you to the graduation ceremony on May 20th, 2:00 pm, at the NAAC.

Graduation Ceremony Process - This video explains the graduation ceremony, tickets, seating, and gate entrances as of April 30th, 2021.

Graduation 2021 Ticket Request Form  -Class of 2021, talk to your parents/guardians BEFORE filling out this form!

Fill out this form, BY MAY 13TH AT 3:00 PM, to let us know how many tickets for graduation you would like to use. IF THIS FORM IS NOT FILLED OUT, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY TICKETS FOR GUESTS TO ATTEND THE CEREMONY. The restrictions on tickets are set upon us from Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) and the school has no control over this number. Last year, graduates were only allowed two tickets and this year JCPH is allowing four tickets as of right now (April 30th, 2021) but this could change depending on all things COVID. Even though we are only allowed four tickets, we understand that some families will not use all their tickets while other families would like more. Arvada High School will do everything we can to make sure that all tickets are used but we have a limited number so please keep in mind the following:

-IF THIS FORM IS NOT FILLED OUT, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY TICKETS FOR GUESTS TO ATTEND THE CEREMONY.
-All tickets will be given during senior checkout/graduation practice on May 19th from 12-3 pm.
-All ticketed guests must fill out the waiver acknowledging we are in a pandemic and still willing to attend the ceremony.
-Per JCPH guidelines, each graduate is entitled to FOUR tickets.
-If graduates do not require all four tickets, they will only be given what they need and the extras will be given to families requesting additional tickets.
-If we cannot fulfill all family requests for tickets, a lottery of additional tickets will occur.
-At the latest, families will be notified of how many additional tickets they will receive via email by May 18th.

-The ceremony will be livestreamed via YouTube. The livestream can be accessed through the AHS homepage on the day of graduation.
